Foraging walks are not only about gathering and harvesting. They are instead a reclamation. A way to reclaim lost ancestral knowledge, a way to reconnect with our plant kin, a way to see into the ‘sea of green’, a way to look a new at the rebel weeds and learn from their tenacity. A way to encourage us to look after our environment.

Wild Medicine
Meander along the hedgerow to discover the wild medicine that we can work with to help with ailments and to keep us healthy.

17th Century/Outlander Themed
Aberfoyle is known for its fairies and a 17th century reverend called Rev Robert Kirk who travelled the local area collecting local folktales. In this foraging walk we are stepping back in time to the 17th century to wander the hedgerows and meet the plants that were used at this time (and still today) for food and medicine. We will put the walk in the context of this time in history speaking briefly to the witchhunts, Gaelic otherworld, women in Scottish history, and Scottish Plant Lore.
A beginners guide to foraging with a historical twist.
